Losing Weight…
One would think that with all the activities I do and the Organic food I eat, that losing weight would not be an issue? I mean sure many people have told me, you do not need to lose weight. But let’s be realistic here and just lay things out. I am 5′ 11″ and so my ideal weight is under 173lbs. I started off this season at my heaviest weight back in March of 205lbs. I always seem to pack the pounds on during the winter and slowly lose them, getting down to 180lbs come November, then the cycle starts over.
With adding Triathlon training into the mix, I figured the weight should just fall off right? Umm not as quick as I would have anticipated, well at least initially. From March to August I dropped down 20lbs and was around 185lbs when I did my second triathlon. And let’s not kid ourselves, the lighter I am the quicker I can swim/bike/run. 😉
So how to lose the rest of the weight? I made a commitment to give up all sugars and processed foods. That means pasta, yes a renown food for cyclists. I also gave up several other foods, to follow an anti-viral diet suggested by a Nutritionist I recently started seeing in September.
So what happened? Well I dropped another 20lbs without even trying to be honest. I am now right around 163lbs and in the best shape of my life. Many people comment on how much weight I have lost and wonder how did you do it? When I tell them the biggest part was cutting out sugars and processed food, they seem shocked, don’t believe me or they believe it, but sadly do not want to make the change for themselves.
From my perspective, losing weight is so easy when you eliminate the foods that force you to gain weight. Yes my weight loss was quicker than most due to my work-out routine, but regardless there is no new fad diet that will work long term. After 2 months roughly, I feel great…lost weight and am eating food that actually has real nutritional value for healthier living. Life is good!
