Lifetime Indoor-Tri
When I decided to sign up for my first Triathlon(May 29) back in February, a friend pointed me to the LTF Indoor-Tri’s as a good training for what to expect come May. The event is indoor’s and is all time based. You swim for 10 minutes(laps are counted), bike for 30 minutes(miles counted) and finally run for 20 minutes(miles counted). Prior to this the only training I’ve done is my normal cycling and some light running. Last time I swam was…well never really except in a pool for fun. But swimming laps? Nah! I figured this would be a good time as any to see what happens. I mean how hard could swimming 10 minutes be? OOOooops! What was I thinking?
Needless to say the swim did not go as “planned” and in ten minutes I was only able to swim 12 lengths and felt just purely exhausted. How am I going to swim a half-mile in May!!! The bike went well of course(15.9 miles in 30 minutes), and then the run I barely got in 1.7 miles in 20 minutes. I really need to start working on my swim and run portions!!! 😉
