2008 TTC
The 2008 TTC(Triple Trail Challenge) this year was set for September 13, however the amount rain on Friday and Saturday post-poned the ride until the 20th. This year the weather was in the 70’s and was an absolute gorgeous day. Being he 3rd year I have attended this event, this was the best day weather wise. The ride hits three trails(Poto, Waterloo, and Lakeland) and as usual was a tough 50 miles of mountain biking. Each year I have rode by myself, but usually find a group to ride with out on the trail. This year I ran into two people I knew from previous rides. So the three of us headed out on the trail and rode together up until we returned into the Poto trail. It was at a point, about 34 miles in that my legs started to seize up. They went on with their ride, while I did my best to stretch out and drink more water. After about ten minutes I ran into a guy who was exhausted and had never been to Poto. So him and I rode the remainder of the ride together with me leading as I knew where to go. The legs felt better and as cardiac hill approached, and in warning Jim that it was coming we slowed our pace to lower our heart rates to make it. And with some serious fighting of our bodies and bikes we encouraged each other and made it to the top of the hardest hill of the day. Jim and I finished the ride out and gave each other a high five at the end. Afterwards I caught up with the two guys I went out with, Mike and Frank and they had just finished. The three of us hit the food table and won some raffle prizes. By far this is one of the better TTC’s I have attended in a long time.
