Triple Trail Challenge 2007

September 16, 2007 Event Reviews, Mountain Biking

The hardest ride I do all year, is by far the Triple Trail Challenge at Potawatomi. It is a 46 mile mountain bike through Hell, MI. I did this last year by myself as now one I rode was able to go. So this year, I figured I’d be riding with others. And while I did, it was no one I knew. It was a brisk morning to start the day off, but nonetheless I decided to hammer it out. About 1/3 way through I hit a hill, nothing substantial but it was enough that caused a cramp in the leg. As I had recently changed my riding position on my bike, I realized that new muscles were being worked. I had luckily paired up with two other guys and they helped me walk it out. We continued on with our ride and by 2/3 way I told them to forge on ahead as I was in pain. I was not worried about getting left behind, as this ride is huge and there about 200 plus people riding it. Well they forged on ahead, an I got a flat. The flat tire was blessing in disguise at it helped my legs rest and after replacing the tube in my front tire, I finished out the ride…and making the climb on cardiac hill. The ride took me about 5 hours and I was completely tapped. I stayed for some of the party and headed home for the hot tub. The hot tub was purely a savior in that I felt great after soaking for a good 30 minutes. The amount of food consumed that day, had to at least be double the normal and yet i was still hungry by the time I went to bed. Can;t wait until next years ride! 🙂
